Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Sport Education students completed a two day, one night camp at the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve on the 15th and 16th of November. The Murrindindi Scenic Reserve comprises 1068 hectares of beautiful plants and forests including waterfalls, tree fern gullies as well as plenty of birds and mammals.

Students completed two hikes. The Murrindindi River walk comprised of a one way 12km walk which followed the Murrindindi River and extended across the entire reserve. The walk included short steep hills, river views and ferny gullies. Students were exhausted, however persevered through it.

After this long trek, students set up camp at the Ferns Camp ground before cooking their own meals using their trangias. Meals ranged from noodles, to rice and vegetables as well as meat dishes. Students then started a campfire where we played camp games and roasted marshmallows in the fires to create some delicious smores.

The next day, students woke up bright and early to start the Wilhelmina Falls trek. A 6km walk with many obstacles and very steep hills. It was worth the leg pain as we had some beautiful views of waterfalls and cascades that dropped 75m down a steep granite rock face. All in all, it was a fantastic experience for all the girls.
